Weather Caddy ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the Weather Caddy mobile application ("App").
1. Information We Collect
When you use the "Use My Location" feature, the App requests your device's precise GPS coordinates. These coordinates are used solely to retrieve local golf course conditions and weather forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS). Location data is transmitted to our backend and to the NWS API and is not stored beyond the duration of the request.
We do not collect location data in the background.
If you choose to create an account or sign in with Google, we collect:
- Email address
- Display name (from Google, if you use Sign in with Google)
- A unique user identifier assigned by our authentication provider
Authentication is handled by Supabase. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Google sign-in uses OAuth 2.0; we do not receive or store your Google password.
If you are signed in, any golf courses or cities you save as favorites are stored in our database associated with your account. If you are not signed in, favorites are stored only on your device using local storage.
If you enable biometric sign-in (Face ID / Touch ID), your credentials are encrypted and stored in your device's secure keychain using Apple's Keychain Services. We never transmit biometric data off your device.
The App may collect anonymous crash reports and performance data via Sentry to help us identify and fix bugs. This data does not include personally identifiable information. Crash reports may include device type, OS version, and a stack trace of the error. No user content, location, or account information is included in crash reports.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To retrieve and display weather and course conditions for your requested location
- To authenticate your account and maintain your session securely
- To sync your saved favorites across devices when you are signed in
- To diagnose technical issues and improve app stability
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose not described above.
3. Information Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as necessary with:

Your location coordinates are forwarded to the NWS API (api.weather.gov) to retrieve forecast data. This is a public U.S. government API. No account data is shared with NWS.

4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your account data (email, display name, saved favorites) is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Location data used for weather lookups is not retained beyond the duration of the API request.
5. Children's Privacy
Weather Caddy is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
6. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted credential storage (iOS Keychain), and access controls on our database. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for location access at any time via your device settings
- Opt out of diagnostic data collection
